Story Time Programs

Why programs are important  | How adults can help!  |
  The Programs  |  |  2005 upcoming sessions

Why programs are important:

Story time programs educate and entertain your preschool child.  They are a child's first introduction to the library habit.
These programs encourage family literacy and involvement in your child's reading activities.  During the Storytime program your child will be introduced to stories, nursery rhymes, songs, finger plays, selected films and videos, as well as craft activities.
This is an opportunity for your child to learn social skills in a group situation, broaden his/her world both physically and mentally and develop language and reading readiness.

How Adults can help us succeed:

  1. Please arrive five minutes before the start of the program and make sure tour child has gone to the toilet.
  2. Please remain with your child for the duration of the program.   This program is designed to help you, as a parent or caregiver, learn rhymes and have fun with stories and books at home.
  3. Please take a child who is restless or crying from the program area to minimize the distraction for those in the program.  We ask you to provide guidance and necessary discipline for your child during the session.
  4. Please feel free to ask for help to find appropriate books for your child.
